Pursuant to its bylaws, the Peel Law Association has six separate
categories of membership. Each category has its own membership criteria.
Also, please note that membership in the PLA is subject to the approval
of the PLA’s membership committee.

Regular members
Regular membership is available to lawyers in good
standing of the Law Society of Upper Canada who, according
to the records of the Law Society of Upper Canada, have an
office located within the Regional Municipality of Peel.

Out-of-county members
Out-of-County membership is available to lawyers in good standing
of the Law Society of Upper Canada who do not have an office
within the Regional Municipality of Peel but is a member in
good standing of another Ontario County or District law association
.

Newly-called members
This membership is for lawyers in good standing of the Law Society
of Upper Canada who have been members of the bar for five (5)
years or less, and have an office within the Regional Municipality
of Peel.

Student members
Student membership is available to articling students working
under articles of clerkship with a lawyer or law firm located
in the Regional Municipality of Peel.

Special members
Anyone who does not fit into one of the above categories and
who, at the sole discretion of the Board of Directors, is entitled
to special consideration may be admitted as a special member
of the PLA.

Honourary Members
A special category of membership reserved for those individuals
determined to be entitled to Honourary Status within the PLA. |
